Bye-bye High Chair

My high chair is outside on the curb waiting for the garbage truck. For the first time in over 16 years, my house will have no high chair in it. It's a little sad, but I am so tired of tripping over it and walking around it, that I am extremely happy to let it go. It was a gift from Shane's mom when Tanner was born and has served us very well for the last 4 kids. But, it is SO COOL to be able to say "so long" to the baby years. It has been a long 16 1/2 years of babyhood!!!! :)

Did I ever tell you about my mom and the diaper pail? My parents had eight kids. All eight kids wore cloth diapers. When number eight was potty trained, my mom took the diaper pail (the pail where the soiled diapers were collected prior to being washed) to the target range. She shot the heck out of that diaper pail! I think it was very therapeutic for her.

Are you sure you don't want to keep it for when grandkids want to come visit down the road? hehe

lol...i bet u must feel so liberated! honestly, those of you moms who have 2, 3, 4, 5, or more children have my deepest admiration. but i admire all moms no matter how many booger pickers they decide to bring into the world. it's a tough job though extremely rewarding.

it was a little different for me, knowing that i would only have kate. i cried when i put the bottles away or gave her baby toys away. it was very hard to pass through all the stages because it felt like it was all going too fast...and it was! look at her now!!!

Wahoo! Now you have room to move in your kitchen. I love these kinds of milestones!

Before you know it you'll be getting rid of diapers, the crib, the car seat... It is amazing how much freedom there is without those little kid necessities, huh! (Oh, wait. We just replace them with different issues like cell phones, cars, boys... *Sigh* Well, the freedom felt good while it lasted... *blink*)

IMO, getting rid of that diaper pail would be even more therapeutic than the high chair. I'd take feeding a baby/toddler over diapers/potty training any day!!

Yeah! I'm celebrating for you. That day seems so far away for me but I know that it must feel great.

What a happy, happy day!! We're all celebrating with you!!
I'm not sure the target practice would work so well with a high chair but I suppose you could take it to Rumpke and watch the big trucks roll over it and crush it! Or even just seeing the trash truck come by and see it get squished into the compactor...

I took Patty's advice. When baby number 5 was potty trained, it was time for a MAJOR purge! 2 white trash bags of non-donatable baby clothes, furniture such as a high chair, changing table, 1 old crib, with 2 bad mattresses, large cloth diaper pail (half full), stroller, playpen, and 3 unusable car seats (whew). Watched them go into the truck and could not believe how powerful the truck was! Everything smashed flat in seconds! Good call Patty! I recommend it!!
